Definition of adaptation
The term adaptation refers to where an organism changes to better suit a specific environment or develops a way of coping to change. How do living organisms benefit from having adaptations Living organisms benefit from having adaptation because it allows them to sustain life in times of change and coping in certain environments. If organisms can’t adapt, then the environment will overcome them and can ultimately cause death. When an organism adapts in either a structural, behavioural or physiological way, this can help them in many ways. It could increase their chances in finding food or increase their chances in escaping from predators. By fitting to a certain environment, it allows the organism to maintain their life and be able to continue existing in the constantly changing environment. |
