The Short-Beaked Echidna
Note: When referring to the Echidna, reference is to the Tachyglossus aculeatus
ChallengesTwo challenges the organism faces as a result of living in that environment
1. The short-beaked Echidna faces a major challenge, as it is known to be prey towards foxes and dingoes. These animals have enough speed and strength to kill Echidnas without hesitation, leaving them with very little chance at survival. As they ability to kill Echidnas and share the same environment as them, it is a major challenge in which the Shot-beaked Echidna has to face. 2. However an even bigger challenge the older Echidnas have to face is to protect their little ones from all the animals that can possible eat them. Animals such as snakes and goannas target very young Echidnas as easy prey and can very easily consume them, leaving the little ones with no chance at survival and ultimately posing a large threat to its mother. |
