Mountain Ash
Note: When referring to Mountain Ash, reference is to the Eucalyptus regnans
Challenges
Two challenges the organism faces as a result of living in that environment
1. The Mountain Ash tree lives in an environment that provides it with all the essential needs to allow it to grow as much as possible. As this tree produces quality hardwood timber and can be used to make paper, these trees can often be cut down for the products they can make and as the environment they live in promote large growth, it is a problem for them. These trees physically can’t do anything to avoid being cut down and therefore is one of the challenges they face. 2. Another challenge this organism faces is bushfires. This is because unlike many other eucalyptus trees, the Mountain Ash tree doesn’t have any insulating bark and has no lignotuber (which is the swelling of roots). Consequently, when the Mountain Ash tree comes up against intense bushfires, they stand little chance surviving and usually end up being killed. This is yet another challenge in which this organism faces. |
